After a decade of research in the field of behavioral finance, we saw an opportunity to create a firm that specialized in applying the findings to improve decision making. While most asset managers are well read in behavioral finance, there was demand for an outside expert in behavioral change to work as coach or consultant.
Our industry, the investment management business, is in the throes of a paradigm shift, no longer able to rely on backward facing probabilistic models. Human judgment has never been more important.
Successful people are always looking for the edge and our goal is to bring the best of two fields together to offer programs to satisfy the need. Change techniques, paired with the cutting edge psychological knowledge specific to the financial industry, has allowed clients to improve investment decisions and business decisions including employee hiring and retention.
Asset management companies manage a unique paradox in managing process and personnel. Acquiring top individual talent that also can work seamlessly with a team is as much art as science.
The work environment demands constant growth and flexibility of professional staff, and the ability to operate effectively in an uncertain environment. Even firms with disciplined strategies find themselves needing to adapt quickly to changing demands of clients and prospective clients, and communicate value in a time of rapidly shifting economic expectations. This takes a work force that can adeptly manage communications as well as relationships with team members and outside parties. Adaptability, emotional sophistication, and an openness to change become paramount in hiring and training programs.
From a proprietary behavioral assessment model, we created three training and consulting programs:
1) integrating emotions into the decision process;
2) profiting and protecting from fraudulent behaviors; and
3) hiring, training, and developing employees for today’s environment.
